The students from Bucin marked the Albanian Teachers Day

On 7 March – the Albanian Teachers Day, about a hundred of students from Macedonian and Albanian ethnicity from the elementary school “Sv. Kiril i Metodij” from Bucin visited the Museum of the Albanian Alphabet in Bitola. The goal of the joint visit was for the students to get acquainted with the cultural and the historic values of the city under Pelister.

On that occasion, the employees in the Museum held a lecture about the process of creation of the Albanian alphabet and about the need to create a unified alphabet for all Albanians. After the lecture, the students were very curious and interested why the congress took place in Bitola and whether there were Macedonian delegates on the congress.

In the end, the guests from Bucin near Skopje made a tour of the archaeological site Heraclea and learned more about the ancient culture in this region.

Such visits are extremely important for the teachers because the students expand their knowledge of the shared past of all ethnic communities living in this region. In the opinion of the school principal, Dragan Jankoski, the activities of the Interethnic Integration in Education Project are critical for the awareness raising among the students about the importance of unity, togetherness and mutual understanding.
