Success story: Partnership Established Between Monolingual Schools from Municipality of Strumica and Municipality of Tetovo

For the first time, on 20 February 2013, a partnership agreement for joint collaboration toward interethnic integration in education is established between two primary schools “Sv. Kiril i Metodij” from Municipality of Strumica and “Gergj Kastrioti Skenderbeg” from Municipality of Tetovo.

PartnershipAt the working meeting, school directors officially confirmed the partnership and admired that this agreement portrays a positive example that other schools will follow.

The School Integration Teams from two schools with one language of instruction (one in Macedonian and one in Albanian) prepared and presented at the meeting, a work-plan of joint students’’ activities that will promote the mutual collaboration and communication, and will be a roadmap to other schools throughout Macedonia.

School directors and members of the School Integration Teams voiced that these integrative interethnic activities certainly will enhance, foster and harmonize the inter-community relations and improve the wellbeing of the communities.

Schools with a strong enthusiasm in the following period will start the implementation of joint activities that promote interethnic integration in education according to their joint developed action plan.
