Students debate – through youth initiatives towards integration

DSC03102“Youth initiatives, an example of cooperation, integration and trust” was the topic of the secondary school students’ debate which was held on 17 June 2015 in Gostivar. The students from the secondary schools in Tetovo and Gostivar discussed the role of young people and education in the integration process.

Speakers at the debate were two teachers from the SEOU “Gostivar” from Gostivar, Ms. Gabriela Petroska and Mr. Rezak Jakupi, as well as the journalist Mr. Valbon Bedzeti. The speakers were put in a position to reflect on the problems and needs of the secondary school students/youth, and also to discuss ways of pooling, sharing success stories with a focus on common problems that lead to common solutions.

DSC03122The USAID Interethnic Integration in Education project in partnership with the Youth Education Forum formed 18 debate clubs in secondary schools throughout Macedonia, where 600 students regularly promote their oratorical skills, learn techniques for debating and argumentative expression.
