Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at the Primary School Braka Miladinovci in Demir Hisar Municipality

On 29 November 2012, the school Braka Miladinovci in Zvan and Municipality of Demir Hisar honored a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new roof cover and lightning protection system.

It was a day in a warm and hospitable atmosphere, lots of sun, to get together with teachers, parents, students and representatives from USAID, EUCOM and Interethnic Integration in Education Project team, to inaugurate the new renovations in the school in Zvan.

The school and the municipality invest a lot in promoting the integration; with the support of Peace Corps volunteers and USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project, they successfully organized a Summer Camp this year to promote the diversity. There are also many other activities that children are engaged in, when interethnic integration and diversity is concerned.

“When things get tough, the tougher gets going” –this is how the Chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation, United States Embassy, Mr. Mark Watkins described the enthusiasm and devoted efforts of the director, teachers and parents toward making the school friendly and welcoming for everyone.

The process of renovation was financially supported by the USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project and the United States European Command (EUCOM).

The school and municipality once again pledged that the activities that promote the diversity and multicultural values, as a main pillar for democratic processes, will be priority in their community.
