What are the possibilities for funding interethnic integration in education activities?

DSC00211In what way can schools obtain additional funds to support school activities? What are the existing legal incentives for fundraising for this purpose? How to prepare a request for donation and sponsorship?

These are just some of the questions that the representatives from the municipalities, schools and the integration teams from all over Macedonia, discussed with representatives of the business sector in the municipalities, as part of the Fundraising Forums organized by IIEP team in several towns across the country.

The forum participants were mostly interested in the tax incentives as defined in the Law on Donations and Sponsorships in the Public Activities, so that they could start preparing the requests for donations and sponsorships for support of joint student activities for interethnic integration in education (IIE). They also shared their positive experiences with the obtaining of additional funding from the municipalities and the companies for implementation of the IIE activities.

A total of 8 forums have been organized in Skopje, Kocani, Veles, Strumica, Prilep, and Gostivar.

Within USAID’s Interethnic Integration in Education Project (IIEP), over 260 partnerships were formed between schools from all over Macedonia, with the purpose of implementing joint student activities that are proven to be the most significant in the process of interethnic integration.

The interethnic integration is a process that requires dedication, but also support of all the stakeholders in the education. It is therefore necessary that all relevant factors in the schools, municipalities, the local community and the society as a whole provide assistance in the implementation of the joint student activities.
