Secondary school students from Delcevo on a summer debate get-together

On 27 and 28 of July, the Youth Educational Forum held a debate training for the secondary school students–debaters. The training, implemented as part of the USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project, was intended for practicing the “World Schools” format for high school competitive debate. The participants attentively followed the lectures on argumentation, building a case, manners and techniques for thesis analysis, the role of the speakers in the teams, and they had a debate at the end of the training on the thesis: “Formal education is the main factor for integration among the youth.”

DSC03339“It was a great honour to cooperate with the secondary school students from Delcevo. I am happy that the interest for debate and expression supported with arguments is increasing among young people”, said Dejan Rizinski, debate trainer at the training. The secondary school students–debaters also expressed their great satisfaction from the short, but intensive and productive debate training. “The training and the trainers were really good and I am very satisfied with the manner in which they presented us the new debating format. I acquired new knowledge for better debating, the difference between the two formats of debating, as well as the origin and the history of debate”, said the debater Antonio Panovski.

DSC03375The training ended with flawless debate simulation by the participants. As prime speakers and debaters, both teams took the floor to defend their theses. We wish them many more successful debates and get-togethers filled with fun and new acquired knowledge.
