Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony in the Primary School Tefeyyuz in Skopje

The student’s choir singing the hymn of the school Tefeyyuz officially opened the ribbon-cutting ceremony today on 6 December 2012, marking the completion of the renovation process in the scope of the USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project.

The mayor of the municipality of Cair and the school hosted this event, warmly welcoming the representatives from USAID, EUCOM, and team of the Interethnic Integration in Education Project, including teachers, parents and students. It was a celebration that included thankful remarks and diverse performances by the students creating a joyful and pleasant ambiance.

Ethnic integration is never an easy process in any part of the world. It requires willingness, persistence and concerted efforts by teachers, parents, school management and community leaders”- emphasized the Mission Director of USAID in Macedonia, Robert Wuertz. “I am happy to hear and witness that your school is a successful example of how good interethnic relations can be nurtured.”

The process of renovation is financially supported by the USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project and the United States Department of Defense/European Command (EUCOM).

The school and municipality vowed on the commitment they have in regard to continuously implementing activities that advance the interethnic cohesion and collaboration.
