Old Bazaar – a treasury of cultures

On 4 and 5 November, the Development Association of the Roma Community in Macedonia SUMNAL, in the “Molika” Hotel in Bitola, organized a two-day workshop for students and teachers on the topic “The Old Bazaar: treasury of cultures”.

The workshop which was implemented in the frames of the Interethnic Integration in Education Project was attended by about thirty sixth-grade students and seven teachers from the elementary schools “Jasar Bej Skupi” and “Vasil Glavinov” from Skopje and from “Sv. Kiril I Metodija” and “Gjorgji Sugarev” from Bitola.

During the activity, the students, in mixed groups, explored the landmarks of Bitola, and the obtained information helped them implement the tasks as part of the five creative workshops: Bitola Travel Guide; Poster of Bitola; Power Point presentation for Bitola; Dramatization and “Facebook” group for Bitola.

All the participants were fully committed to the realization of the assigned tasks. The teachers also actively participated in the implementation of the activities, especially in the preparation of the final products. In addition, the activity helped to build a positive attitude towards the cultural heritage and the development of respect and trust toward others.
