Integrated School Manifestation in Kumanovo

If you`re happy and you know it clap your hands

If you`re happy and you know it clap your hands

If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it

If you`re happy and you know it clap your hands…

We are all familiar with this popular children`s song and so are the children from the Kumanovo primary schools “Brakja Miladinovci” and “Bajram Shabani”. What is special about these kids, from these two particular schools, is that through this song they send a message that they can live, work and celebrate together.

On 3 October both schools, in a joint event, celebrated the World teachers` day in the primary school Brakja Miladinovci. Unlike the traditional way of organizing school manifestations which involves only students, teachers and parents from one school or schools with the same language of instruction, this was the first time, after more than twenty years, that schools with different languages of instruction organized a joint event. It was precious to see smiling small children dance and sing together, not knowing who is coming from which school. To be honest, it did not matter.

The principles from both demonstration schools are hoping to intensify their cooperation under the USAID Project for Interethnic Integration in Education eager to reach a level where joint events will be part of their everyday functioning.
