Demonstration Schools

The holistic approach will be taken to introduce changes in all areas of school life and include all stakeholders in the process of transforming selected primary and secondary schools (5-7) from ethnically mixed areas into models for integrated education, by providing extensive interventions. This will be achieved through:

  • Creating models that provide evidence that integrated education in a system divided along language lines is possible to exist;
  • Providing examples of best practices and lessons learned from demonstration schools to contribute to a deeper understanding of various approaches to ethnic integration;
  • Developing models of integrated schools to be used within the education system for more efficient scaling up in the other primary and secondary schools from ethnically mixed areas;
  • Increasing student integration in selected schools in extracurricular, and potentially, in curricular activities;
  • Increasing cooperation between teachers and parents of mixed ethnic background;
  • Increasing number of schools/municipalities to integrate ethnically mixed student bodies.

The Component 3 will be implemented by the IIEP project partner Center for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR).
