The Renovation of PS “Goce Delcev” from the Municipality of Ilinden has Begun

ilindeeenJuly 17, 2014 is a big day for the primary school “Goce Delcev” from Ilinden Municipality. While the students are enjoying their well-deserved summer holiday, the school staff is working hard to improve the learning conditions. The activities for renovating the school have officially started on filed. A preconstruction meeting was organized which was attended by representatives from EUCOM, USAID/IIEP, the Municipality of Ilinden, the primary school “Goce Delcev”, the sub-contracting company Meda – 3 from Tetovo and the supervising company BAR E.C.E. from Skopje. The selected sub-contracting company for the replacement of the windows took the measurements for the new aluminum windows which will be followed by the manufacturing and installation of the windows. In the meantime, the school will dismantle the old and damaged windows. The first one of the old wooden windows was dismantled by the special guests at this meeting, Desmond Brooks, high representative from the US Army European Command, and Zhika Stojanovski, mayor of Ilinden Municipality.

Following the replacement of the windows in the hallways, the Municipality of Ilinden will install new entrance doors, will complete the treatment of the damaged walls around the windows and the doors, and will paint the façade. Besides the dismantling of the old windows, the school will replace the old boiler with new one. All activities are planned to be finished by the end of August. More than 1.000 students will be welcomed on September 1, 2014 in a more modern and energy-efficient school.
