The renovation in PS “Gjorce Petrov” celebrated in the spirit of interethnic integration

DSC06573On November 12, 2014, the Primary School “Gjorce Petrov” from the Municipality of Gjorce Petrov organized a ribbon cutting ceremony which marked the completion of the overall renovation of the kitchen and the dining room in the school. This activity was financially supported by EUCOM through USAID’s Interethnic Integration in Education Project. The kitchen and the dining room were opened to the public through the tasting of delicious food prepared by the parents of the students from PS “Gjorce Petrov” and their new friends from the partner PS “Dituria” from Saraj.

Your school has a team of teachers trained in the concepts of interethnic integration and they are tirelessly sharing this knowledge with the entire staff”, said Major Dawn Nichols, the Deputy of the ODC at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje. The teachers shared their knowledge and skills with the attendees of the event also. Together with the students, they, in cooperation with the partner PS “Dituria”, successfully organized an “Interethnic Integration Expo”.

DSC06575The rich program of joint student activities was presented on the three stands of this mini fair. At the first stand, the students presented their findings from the research of the economic features and the business sector in the municipalities of Saraj and Gjorce Petrov.  At the second stand, the students presented posters of famous poets and recited their poems in Albanian, Macedonian and Bosnian languages. For the third stand, students had prepared a healthy food poster and a brochure and they were making fruit and vegetable figures on spot.

At the end, Major Dawn Nichols, together with the Mayor of the Municipality, Mr. Sokol Mitrovski and the school director, Mr. Zoran Boskovski cut the red ribbon and then they all headed towards the dining room where there was another delicious expo of various specialties of the different ethnic communities living in Macedonia.
