Workshop, Round Table and Debate to Discuss the Multicultural Context in Education in Bitola Municipality

On November 1 and 2, 2012 the USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project in cooperation with Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM) and PAC Multimedia, gathered representatives from the educational institutions, school staff, directors, teachers, students and parents, to discuss the multicultural and intercultural context in education in their municipality.

The first day MIM facilitated 32 participants to upgrade their presentation skills in the context of inter-ethnic integration in education, and the ways how to clearly present their knowledge to different target groups involved in the educational process.

The following day, the round table and the debate in cooperation with PAC Multimedia, succeeded in gathering more than 80 participants from the respective educational institutions, school managements, students and parents. In a very lively ambiance they jointly discussed how the values of interethnic integration can positively impact the improvement of education, promote diversity and utilize positive models from other schools, municipalities and communities.

These activities proved to be very successful. The presenters for the round table and debate Ms.Ana Tomovska Misoska, PhD shared some experiences from Northern Ireland, whereas Mr. Saso Macanovski Trendo, who is well known by his media presence for a longer period, shared how the e-world can impact on youth to promote the multicultural context in education.

Mr. Macanovski addressed the audience by saying:

Education is very important. It is like the first button on the shirt. If you miss the first hole, thеn you cannot expect that the shirt will be buttoned properly at the end“.

The workshops, round tables and debates continue in Tetovo, Strumica and Skopje during November 2012.
