Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies at the Liria and Bratstvo Migjeni Primary Schools in Bogovinje and Tetovo Municipalities

Municipalities of Bogovinje and Tetovo and the Primary Schools Liria and Bratstvo Migjeni honored the official opening of the newly renovated schools – with an installation of central heating system, access ramps for persons with disabilities and replacement of windows. On a sunny day, 24 April 2013, the USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project together with teachers, parents, students and representatives from USAID and Interethnic Integration in Education Project team, gathered to inaugurate the new renovations in the schools. The events were attended by the Mrs. Wohlers, US Embassy Macedonia, USAID Senior Education Specialist, Lela Jakovlevska, Mayor of Bogovinje, Hazbi Idrizi and Mayor of Tetovo, Teuta Arifi.

Parents play a critical role in interethnic cohesion and integration, so I urge all of you who have children to consider the seriousness of that role, and to demonstrate to your kids the many ways in which they can play a positive role in their communities. Nothing could have a greater impact on their behavior – now and later as adults – than these critical lessons you share with them”- said Mrs. Wohlers during her speech.

The process of refurbishment is financially supported by USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project and the United States European Command (EUCOM). The renovations are just one part of the activities that the schools will undertake in order to create and sustain the interethnic integration in education.
