The Role of the School Boards in the Changes for Interethnic Integration in Education

Within  the USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project, which is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science, the Bureau for Development of Education and the Vocational and Educational Training Centre, yesterday, 27.04.2013 at the Hotel Continental in Skopje, a training was held on the topic „The role of the School Boards in the changes for interethnic integration,” which was attended by two representatives of the School Boards of the pilot municipalities Bitola, Butel, Tetovo and Strumica.

At the training the participants were divided in two groups who worked under the following Agenda:  1. Introduction of the School Boards in the activities of the IIEP.  2. The role of the School Boards in the changes for interethnic integration (Part I and II) 3. Training reflection and evaluation

Ms. Biljana Petrova, as a representative of the parents and I, as a representative of the teaching staff in the School Board, were representing our school.

The main goal of the training was to acquaint the representatives of the School Board with the concept of interethnic integration in education and to obtain knowledge and skills for application of the approaches and strategies for improving the situation in terms of the interethnic integration at school level.

After that, we the representatives of the School Boards will cascade the knowledge obtained to our colleagues so as to be able to make their contribution to the creation of the school policies and strategies for enhanced interethnic integration in the school atmosphere.
